‘What the assailant did was heartless’, says father of murdered toddler

The decomposed body of Noor Amila was found in a ravine at Kampung Kemensah on Thursday.
KUALA LUMPUR: The killer of missing child Noor Amila Edrus Norsham is heartless and inhumane, said the boy’s father.
Norsham Jalil, 63, said he was informed of the gruesome discovery by his friends while he was in Sepang Thursday afternoon.
“I pray to god that whoever the killer is, he or she will get what the person deserves. What the assailant did was heartless.
“We really feel the loss. My son was such a nice boy, he was good at reciting the Quran, diligent at performing prayers and had been consistently going to the mosque since he was four.
“Usually, the mother or older brother would accompany him but I guess it was fated,” Norsham said, when met at the mortuary on Thursday night.
After receiving the dreadful news, he rushed straight to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary where the post-mortem was carried out.
“I did not get to see my son but he was identified based on what he was found wearing. We were told by the doctor that his body was severely decomposed,” he said outside the mortuary Thursday night.
It was believed that the body of Noor Amila, the eighth of nine siblings, was mutilated before he was dumped into the ravine.
Noor Amila was laid to rest at the Batu 5 Sungai Emas Muslim cemetery Thursday night.
The victim’s body was discovered when the main suspect in the case led police to a ravine in Kampung Kemensah, Hulu Kelang at about 2pm on Thursday.
He was missing for about a week and was last seen near a mosque at the Jinjang Utara longhouse, close to his home, at about 7.20pm on Aug 11.
On Aug 15, Noor Amila’s 25-year-old stepbrother-in-law was arrested to facilitate investigations.Police reclassified the case from a missing person’s report to kidnapping following the man’s arrest.
