Ticket check leads to corpse in car

GEORGE TOWN: A Penang Island City Council (MBPP) enforcement officer carrying out routine parking ticket checks was shocked to discover a dead body inside a parked car here.
He then notified the police who identified the body as that of Mohd Yamin Abdul Hamid, 41, through his MyKad which stated his address in Shah Alam, Selangor.
The man’s Penang-registered white Proton Saga was parked at a parking lot in front of the Town Hall building.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the man, who was found at 6pm yesterday, was believed to have been dead since Sunday.
“No foul play was detected, as there was no injury found on his body, nor were there any signs of a break-in.

“The windows and the doors were closed and the car engine was dead. However, the car was unlocked.
“For now, we have yet to find anything suspicious related to his death,” ACP Mior told a press conference at the scene yesterday.
A post-mortem would be conducted today at Penang Hospital to determine the cause of death, he added.
