BALIK PULAU: A female Grab car driver claimed trial here today with hurling expletives at two policemen, with the intention of humiliating them.
Jabiah Norani, 33, who was unrepresented, was charged with two offences, read before Magistrate Nurazzwin Abd Muati.

She nodded to indicate that she understood the charges and its punishment if convicted.

On the first count, she is alleged to have uttered "You want RM20 and RM50, I can give" to Constable Abdul Wafiy Azmi Mohamad Idrus with the intention of humiliating him near the entrance of the Penang International Airport about 12.30am on Sept 3.

On the second charge, she is alleged to have uttered "You Chinese eat pigs" to Lance Corporal Mohamad Noor Firdaus Abu Talib with the intention to humiliate him at the same time and place.

She was charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries maximum five years jail or a fine or both upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Shafiq Mahadi, who prosecuted, proposed for a bail at RM8,000 with one surety.

Jabiah, however, requested for a lower bail, saying she was a married woman.

Nurazzwin allowed bail at RM4,000 with one surety and advised Jabiah to appoint a lawyer before the next mention.

She then set Oct 10 for mention.

Jabiah was released after she posted bail later in the evening.
