Police nab Ustaz Zubir in connection with RM6.2mil property scam

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested another individual to facilitate a probe into a property scam involving RM6.2 million.
Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department deputy director Datuk A.Thaiveegan said, Zubir Yahya, 50, who is known as Ustaz Zubir, was picked up at a restaurant in Setapak at 11am Friday morning.
Zubir is the fifth individual to be arrested in connection with the scam.
It was reported that the ‘ustaz’ had used religion to persuade victims to invest in an affordable housing scheme run by Juta Kelulut Global Resources and DBI Properties, in Nilai.
Zubir’s arrest comes on the same day that the Kangar magistrate’s court granted police a two-day remand order against DBI Properties managing director Datuk Nuruliman A. Rahman and three directors of Kelulut Global Ventures including a woman.
Nuruliman, 37, popularly known by his stage name ‘Boy Iman’ and the trio were produced at court at about 9.47am.
This is the sixth remand order on Nuruliman and the trio following similar probes. They were previously detained in Ampang, Shah Alam, Muar, Sungai Petani and Jitra.
Police have so far received 210 reports from victims nationwide who had been told that they could purchase a 1,650-sq-ft bungalow for a mere RM60,000. © New Straits Times Press
