Four college students nabbed in ganja ring bust

KAJANG: Four college students were among 12 people arrested by anti-narcotics police in investigations into a ganja distribution ring here.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusoff said the four students were caught following multiple raids in the Kajang area after police discovered the ring in early December.

"On Dec 2, police stopped three men in Beranang, Kajang and checks on them led to the discovery of 36.62g of dried ganja hidden in their bags," he told reporters at the police headquarters here on Friday.

ACP Ahmad Dzaffir said that interrogation efforts on the initial three suspects had led to three more raids in the area, on Dec 4 and 5.

A total of 4.8kg of ganja, with an estimated value of RM12,000, was seized.

On the four arrested students, it is learnt that they are engineering students at a private college.

ACP Ahmad Dzaffir confirmed that the leader of the distribution ring was one of the students, and that the drugs were sold to students of colleges and universities in the area.

"The suspects are aged between 20 and 26 years old. All tested positive for drugs," he said of the 12 suspects.

He added that investigations were still ongoing, with police on the hunt for the group's supplier.
