KLUANG: A police officer from China, on trial here for causing death by reckless driving, was found dead in a house at Jalan Terubuk 3, Kahang, today.

District police chief Asst Commissioner Mohamad Laham said the victim was identified as Wang Weihang, 37.

He said in the 2pm incident, Wang’s 52-year-old friend became curious when he did not get any response from the victim despite knocking on the door and calling out his name several times.

“Peering through the room window, he saw Wang lying on his bed, motionless.

“Suspecting something amiss, he forced the door open and rushed to check on his friend.

“After finding out that Wang is already dead, he alerted the Kahang police,” he said.

Mohamad said checks showed that there were no external injuries on the victim.

He added that the case has been classified as sudden death.

Mohamad added that Wang had been in Malaysia since last November and was on trial at the Kluang magistrate’s court since Dec 12, for an offence under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“The court at the time had ordered the victim’s passport to be revoked pending the case.” he said. © New Straits Times
