Well known Hotelier Mr. Christian Bock passed away suddenly on Thursday morning at his residence in Ipoh. Christian was one of the Directors of Meru Valley Resort in Ipoh, Malaysia.
He is believed to have had a heart attack that morning. Being a fitness freak, his passing has shocked many.
He was very well know among the movers and shakers of Kuala Lumpur when he was the General Manager at the Marriott Hotel, Kuala Lumpur from 2005- 2010.
His off the cuff jokes made him a favourite of many. Being in Malaysia for so long he was almost Malaysian. He was a hard core Liverpool football fan.
Born in Germany, he became General Manager at a very young age of 29 in South Africa and from then was GM of many hotels around the world. He was certainly one the best Hotel General Managers you could ever meet. An old school GM who understood hospitality and how the guest comes first, compared to some GM's nowdays who hide behind their desk churning out reports and never bother to meet their hotel guest.
He was General Manager at Kempinski Hotel Beijing for four years from 2001 to 2005.
He was even with the Shangri-La Hotels and Resort Group from 1987 to 1992
Christian leaves behind his Malaysian wife Barbara Bock.

Funeral service Monday @ 9.30am thereafter cremation at Batu Gantong
