KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested two motorcyclists, suspected to be involved in snatch theft activities in Wangsa Maju yesterday.

District police chief Mohammad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said plainclothes policemen on patrol duty spotted the duo near the Section 4 junction and trailed them to a petrol station nearby.

"The two men were both riding Yamaha 135LC. Our plainclothes personnel suspected something amiss and decided to follow them to a petrol station.

"After the policemen identified themselves, the duo tried to escape but they were detained after a scuffle."

Mohammad said what gave them away was the different vehicle registration plates installed on one of the motorcycles used by the two men.

"The motorcycles also turned out to be stolen after we checked the chasis numbers." he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code.

He said the duo, aged 22 and 23, also had previous record of motorcycle thefts, snatch thefts and drug-related offences.
